Orley Shabahang Persian Carpet Weaves

Orley Shabahang Carpets Available Now at our Holiday Shop in Detroit – 660 Woodward Ave.

In 1973, Geoffrey Orley and Bahram Shabahang met in the bazaars of Isfahan when they were both in their early twenties.  Since then, they have built a friendship and a business, selling unique and collectible Persian carpets.

Orley Shabahang strives to be the most original creator of Persian carpets in the world through his unique designs, techniques and materials.  Bahram Shabahang finds his strongest inspiration in nature, from flora, fauna, earthly landscapes and the cosmos.  He also looks to the great artistic movements and to historical Persian architectural elements.  As he works from ever new sources of inspiration, Bahram’s designs continue to evolve and grow into innovative and unique statements.  It is his keen eye for color and form, together with his life-long passion and pursuit of carpet-making techniques and materials that elevate Orley Shabahang carpets to the highest form of functional art.

minä perhonen

minä perhonen design process begins with sketches, which are made into their original fabrics. Also, they aspire to develop new materials and techniques with production centers of home and abroad. The name of the brand originates in Finnish as the designer sympathized with the lifestyle and the culture of FINLAND; he has traveled many times through northern European countries.

“minä” means “I” and “perhonen” is “butterfly,” with a wish to make many beautiful designs like those of butterflies’ wings. The brand logo signifies “various characters (dots) within oneself (rectangle shape).” Just like the species of butterflies are countless, the designs too continue to increase.
